Givul LA is used to mask areas where engobes, glazes, or ceramic paints should not be applied. Givul LA (Revultex) is a rubbery, milk-like liquid that is peeled off before firing.
General Information
Givul LA is frost-sensitive and should not be stored above 30°C. Always close the bottle tightly after use. If left open, a skin will form that can no longer be used. Only take out as much Givul LA as needed. Givul LA can be thinned with distilled water and thickened with glaze binder (Art. 806).
Application in Ceramics
Givul LA is used to mask areas where engobes, glazes, or ceramic paints should not be applied.
Apply Givul LA with a brush or sponge to leather-hard, dried, engobed, bisque-fired, or glazed clay.
Wait for about 30 minutes until the layer is dry. Afterward, you can coat it with engobe and glaze or decorate the surrounding surfaces. Then you can peel off the rubbery film completely from the piece. Use a pottery needle (item No. 40.501) to pierce the film and lift it off, revealing the underlying surface. For multiple glaze layers with resists, add glaze binder (item No. 806) to the glaze to solidify it, making it easier to apply Givul LA.
Clean the brush with water and soap before use to prevent Givul LA from bonding to it. After using the brush, it is recommended to clean it with a wire brush. Brushes soaked with Givul LA should not be left in the open air, as dried Givul LA cannot be removed from the brush.
