Brasil – Dark brown stoneware clay with strong grog
The Brasil is a coarsely grogged, vibrant stoneware clay that’s perfect for modelling, handbuilding, slab techniques, and sculptures. Its 45% grog (0 – 1 mm) gives it a robust structure and great durability – even with larger works. Despite the high grog content, the clay is pleasantly malleable and easy to shape.
In stoneware firing, the Brasil takes on its characteristic dark brown color with an exciting, lively surface. The high iron oxide content gives the clay a warm, reddish glow in oxidation firing, while the color gets an earthly tone in reduction firing.
Benefits of the Brasil:
Whether it’s for architectural ceramics, the creation of expressive sculptures or exciting surface experiments – with the Brasil you are choosing a versatile clay that’s perfect for both professionals and beginners.
