The Bodmer K127 is made from the Bodmer pottery clay K144 by adding small grog grains. It is well suited for spinning, modeling, plate work, reliefs and all other pottery techniques. Due to the fine grog it has good stability. The firing color of this Manganese clay appears for oven temperatures between 1020°C and 1100°C. The hotter the clay is burned, the darker is its burning color. Bodmer slips can also be applied to the leather-hard clay. Especially with bright slips or glazes very nice effects are possible.
Note: Manganese clays are similar in fire behavior to stoneware clays. The burning leads to a slight softening of the buiscuit. Therefore, all objects must rest with their entire base area on the oven plate.
